Network Security – Hacking

Hi All,

I have recently taken over a few new clients that have Windows SBS 2008/2011 Servers.

When I take over a new client from an old IT Company I always install my Remote Management Software.

Within this software is a Hacker Check, this continuously looks through the Windows Event Logs for any Security login failures and records them. (this will only happen if you have port 3389 open on your router, some IT Companies open this port to dial straight into your Server from remotely)

I then set the software to notify me when a username or password has been typed incorrectly 5 times or more.

This happened to these clients and I stopped this within 10 minutes.

You need to make sure that your internet router has blocked the necessary ports otherwise you ARE open to an attack of some sort.

If you need any more information on this matter feel free to call me on 01772 369 247

Thanks

Ryan
